Amhara Stories

One year ago, Amhara was just a feeling.

A quiet longing to see Chikankari beyond traditional silhouettes and occasion wear.

A desire to make it more breathable. More everyday. More modern.

A belief that heritage could feel contemporary, without losing its soul.

Today, as Amhara turns one, we pause. Not just to celebrate a milestone, but to honour everything it took to get here.

Where It Began

Born from roots in Lucknow and in the heartland of Chikankari, Amhara was shaped by memory. Memories of our mothers and summers wrapped in soft cottons. The patience of hand embroidery. The quiet poetry of bakhiya, phanda, jaali and murri stitches passed down through generations.

But alongside nostalgia, we saw a gap.Why did something so intricate feel reserved only for traditional ensembles or festive moments?

Why couldn’t it move with you : to coffee, to airports, to office dinners, to date nights, to sunday brunches ?

Amhara began with a simple intention: To re - {imagine + define} Chikankari for the modern woman and man.

One Year. One Circle. Many More Stories.

This year taught us that brands don’t grow alone. They grow in circles.Th e Amh ara Circl e is the heart of everything we’ve built, our community who believe in thoughtful fashion, who choose repeat wear over one-time moments, who write back with honest feedback, who send us photos from boardrooms, holidays, anniversaries and ordinary Sundays.

You didn’t just wear Amhara. You shaped it!

Every collection we refine, every silhouette we sharpen, every fabric we test, carries your voice within it. We are still learning. Still evolving. Still dreaming bigger.

The next year holds quieter confidence: New textures. Lighter drapes. Structured tailoring. Intricate handwork. And deeper stories from the artisans who make it all possible.

Amhara is not just a label. It is a love letter to our dear home < Lucknow > and to craft, to softness that is not weakness, to women who move through the world on their own terms. As we step into year two, we do so held by this circle : artisans in Lucknow, our growing community across cities and every woman/man who chooses heritage in her own modern way.

Amhara turns one. But this is only the beginning.

With gratitude, always.
